The Department of Botany came in to existence as a regular P. G. Department from the session 2018-19 by offering semester pattern M. Sc. Programme with an intake capacity of 24 and the sanctioned faculty position is six. Considering the high demand of the programme, the intake capacity has been increased to 32 from the session 2022-23. Besides, the Department also offers Ph. D. programme in Botany following the UGC guideline. A value added course for the P.G. students entitled: “Mushroom cultivation” has been introduced by the Department from the academic session 2021-22. The department also has a Botanic garden having many Rare, Endemic and Threatened (RET) taxa, a herbarium collection and a Non-timber Forest Products (NTFPs) Museum. |
